The North Coast Inland Trail Wabash Connector is not a dedicated bike path or trail, but nonetheless performs (or will perform) an important function. When completed, it will be a 12-mile connecting road route to guide cyclists between the Wabash Cannonball and the North Coast Inland Trails.

Phase one of the project created a marked route connecting Millbury with two parks in the town of Walbridge. Heading south from Walbridge via bike lanes on Main Street (becomes Drouillard Road); the route also hooks up with nearby Lake Township Park.

There is a paved loop trail around the small lake at Township Park. The park has some facilities and serves as a nice rest stop.

The connector has two basic components:

  1. Bike route signs to guide cyclists along roads and
  2. Marked bike lanes added to the road shoulder.

Over-the-road connecting routes play an important role in linking trail segments and networks. Making such routes 'official' by widening shoulders, marking bike lanes and adding bike route signs makes life sweet for traveling cyclists.

Trail Specs:
Class: Road Route
Length: Walbridge to Millbury is 5 miles. Walbridge to Lake Township Park is 1.9 miles. Utilizing asphalt roadways the connector will eventually total 12 miles in length.

Walbridge Lake-Twp-Park Millbury Genoa Elmore

Points of Interest
Facilities: Water fountains & restrooms (or portable toilets) should be available in parks along the route.
Food: I didn't check the nearby towns to see what was available. There's nothing between Walbridge & Millbury.
Parking: Inside parks.
